Understanding the EFT Training Levels
Emotional Freedom Techniques is for everybody. For therapists and trainers, for health workers and teachers, for mums and dads, and for each and every one of us as individuals.
The AAMET (Association for the Advancement of Meridian Energy Techniques) the professional body for EFT in the UK has set guidelines for the content and delivery of three levels of EFT trainings. Completion of these practical workshops leads to the award of the AAMET Practitioner certificates and eligibility for listing on the register of the GRCCT (General Regulatory Council for Complementary Therapies).
In 2008 Gary Craig, EFT Founder, announced an academic certification based upon home study of his high value EFT workshops on DVD followed by online examinations.
AAMET EFT Level One Training Guidelines
Level One gets you started with the foundational priciples of EFT and all of us start here whether we are therapists wanting to incorporate EFT into an existing practice or simply curious individuals seeking to learn EFT to help ourselves and our friends and family. Level One can be taught in a minimum of one day or over two days to give a deeper exploration of the EFT concepts and more practical experience. EFT Level One covers:
- What is EFT and how has it come about
- How to use the tapping Basic Recipe and take shortcuts
- Aspects of our emotional problems and the importance of being specific
- How to handle emotional intensity
- The Movie Technique for clearing the emotion of difficult memories
- Using EFT to help with aches and pains
- Using EFT to get free of chocolate cravings
- What to do when it doesn't work
After a Level One training you will have learned how to use EFT to help yourself or otherw with simple emotional problems, bad memories, phobias, aches and pains and chocolate or cigarette cravings.
AAMET EFT Level Two Training Guidelines
The guideline for Level Two is a further two days of training for those who want to use EFT in their therapy practice or to gain further skill in helping themselves and others. Attendance at a Level One workshop is a prerequisite for Level Two. EFT Level Two Includes:
- The Tearless Trauma technique and the Tell the Story technique
- The Gentle techniques of Chasing the Pain and Sneaking Up
- Techniques and approaches for Physical problems
- Finding Core Issues
- Testing results
- The Palace of Possibilities and freedom from limiting beliefs
- Delivering EFT by Telephone
- EFT for groups and Borrowing Benefits
- EFT for children and for animals
On completion of level two you will have learned how to work with others:
- individually
- in groups
- over the phone
- to apply EFT to more complex emotional and physical problems
- to clear the emotion of limiting beliefs that keep problems in place.
AAMET EFT Level Three Training
Level Three is the expert level for those who want to develop their skill and creativity with EFT to the highest level and be recognised as such. This is delivered as a two day workshop followed by a programme of ongoing supervision and professional development study.
The AAMET Practitioner Certificate
The Association for the Advancement of Meridian Energy Techniques (AAMET) was formed in the UK in 2000 to support and encourage the use of EFT and associated meridian energy techniques. The AAMET Practitioner Certificate for EFT is equivalent to Level Two standard. Practitioner training must be for a minimum of three days and cover all the topics listed above. On completion of the workshops two cases studies of satisfactory standard are required for award of the Practitioner certificate.
Application and Practice: EFT Training with Gwyneth Moss
Accredited and approved by the AAMET, CThA and The Counselling Society
The training I offer is in the practical application of the tool of EFT. I can't teach you "how it works" and I can teach you "how to do it". These are highly praised short focused trainings that enable you to integrate EFT into what you offer already. This means that if you are a psychologist you use EFT for the clients that a psychologist would treat and you integrate it with the methods and tools you already have in your psychologist's tool box. If you are a massage therapist similarly you use EFT with your existing client base. If you are not yet a qualified therapist then you can learn to use EFT with your friends and family and for yourself.
A couple of weekends training does not make anyone a therapist and it is unrealistic to expect to offer a service to the public without further development. There are many training programmes on offer in counselling, coaching and holistic therapies and if you have no previous experience as a therapist I would be glad to advise you on how to research and access these and thereby to build a practice that includes EFT. EFT is a tool and a tool needs a toolbox.
EFT Training from Gwyneth Moss EFT Master
The AAMET Practioner training I offer is delivered as a practical two day EFT Foundations Workshop followed at a later date by a two day EFT Practitioner Workshop and submission of two case studies. This is four days training altogether to reach Practitioner level and covers all the guideline material in great depth and with a thorough approach that three day programmes cannot offer. The "Art of Delivery" is a further two days to take those who really get smitten by EFT to the creative and expert level.
Many trainers offer a one day level one introduction to EFT however after nearly five years of EFT teaching experience I structure training this way with a two day Foundations and two day Practitioner workshop because many of those who come to me to learn are already therapists and have an appetite for something more substantial and with more hands-on exercises than a one day introduction can offer. Or those who want to use EFT for themselves want plenty of tapping time during the training to work on clearing personal issues. I also find that during the weekends something wonderful happens overnight and people return to the workshop room on the second day having integrated their learning and I see them do great work in the exercises. They then leave full of confidence to use EFT with their clients, friends and colleagues.
Training needs the luxury of generous time for practical exercises and plenty of opportunity for feedback, discussion and questions as they arise from the experiences of the exercises.
EFT Foundations Workshop
The EFT Foundations workshop is Level One Plus and covers all of the Level One material and more in great depth and includes four one-to-one exercises, two group exercises, two live demonstrations and plenty of time for discussion and questions. This training has received excellent feedback.
EFT Practitioner Workshop
By the time trainees come back for the Level Two EFT Practitioner weekend (usually after a few weeks or a few months) they have had opportunity to practice and have tested out their learning and so return with inspiring stories to share and lots of questions. This second weekend covers the Level Two material with four more hands-on exercises, group exercises and several live demonstrations.
Those who book for both the EFT Foundations workshop and EFT Practitioner workshop together will receive telephone support between the two dates so that they are supervised in introducing EFT to clients.
EFT Level 3 "The Art of Delivery"
The AAMET Level Three Practitioner certificate is awarded after a combination of workshop training and continuing professional development and supervision. I offer a two day workshop "The Art of Delivery" and then you can choose telephone or group supervision. My intention is to support you to tailor your own CPD and Mentoring programme to gain and maintain the AAMET Practitioner (Level 3) certificate. CPD credits can be gained through attending specialist workshops, writing articles and case studies or reviewing EFT literature and dvds.
My workshop "The Art of Delivery" emphasies the development of creativity and intuition and offers imaginative techniques for approaching challenging cases. The workshop is practical and interactive.
Supervision and Mentoring
I offer EFT Supervision/Mentoring to Level 3 Practitioners and to any and all therapists who include EFT in their work. Supervision may be face to face in Ilkley or by phone and may be on an occasional or regular basis. I also run group supervision days in Skipton and can reccommend other level 3 trainers as supervisors if you wish to find someone more local. Alternatively you may like to consider my residential Mastering EFT retreats which include a strong element of supervision. For my approach to supervision and support please read my article on the Interviews page. Please contact me for details. e-mail
"Before beginning supervision with Gwyneth, I could truly help many clients, fairly help others, and some I couldn't help at all. I pretty much took this as a given to which I had to resign myself. But from the first supervision session, my ability to really succeed with EFT simply escalated with each of my clients. Each supervision session takes me to more profound understandings of how transformational this technique can be - way beyond the classic list of fears and phobias. No matter how far we have trained, we cannot continue to grow as therapists without support. I feel blessed in my interaction with Gwyneth which completely transforms my client sessions, moving me closer and closer to mastery" Shelley Malka PhD
Trainer Training
I offer AAMET Trainer Training to those who meet Gary Craig's and the AAMET guidelines for trainers see www.AAMET.org . Trainer trainees attend and participate in my EFT Foundations and Practitioner Workshops with coaching sessions during the breaks and help supervise the exercises and then spend a full day with me in which I offer individual guidance, marketing advice and full access to my training materials and procedures. Please call for more information.
The EFT Masters
The EFT Masters programme was announced in Dallas in February 2005 and Gary Craig appointed Ann Adams LCSW to be the director and examiner. Worldwide 29 people were accepted onto the programme and passed the EFT Masters exam. Gary then suspended the Master's program in October 2007. The Masters exam was an extremely rigorous process of practical and written examination and Masters were expected to be in full time practice as therapists and trainers and to put EFT at the core of their work. I can only say that the assessment process was the most comprehensive and thorough of anything that I have encountered in the therapy world. I took the practical exam in 2005 and became an EFT Master in January 2006 being the eleventh to do so worldwide. All the Masters that I have met are people of superb skill, clear integrity and warm heart. I feel honoured to be one of such a group.
